The use of electric cars instead of internal combustion-engine vehicles is beneficial to the environment. But the lack of charging stations and charging times makes people think twice before they get an electric car.

Scientists and companies are working together to provide faster charging times and more common charging stations, such as roads that can charge electric cars, batteries that provide a distance of 250 miles (400 kilometers) in 10 minutes of charging time, or regulations that impose charging stations for new buildings in the UK. Because we're in charging times, let's take a look at how long it takes to ship different models from Tesla in full.

charging levels

First of all, there are three different charging levels to charge an electric car. Levels 1 and 2 of AC charging, which provides 120 volts and 240 volts, are called NEMA 5-15 chargers and NEMA chargers 14-50, respectively. Tesla also offers the option to install a charging unit in your home called Wall Connector. Wall connectors are the fastest way to charge a Tesla in your home.

Last but not least, tesla Supercharger, a common set of private charging stations developed and implemented by Tesla that provides the fastest shipping time.

Level 1 AC (120 volt port at home) takes 20 to 40 hours, level 2 (third-party chargers/Tesla chargers/Tesla home charger) takes 8 to 12 hours, and level 3 DCFC (Tesla Supercharger) takes 15 to 25 minutes to fully charge a Tesla. However, due to its huge direct current, Superchargers is not recommended for daily charging, and the company recommends charging Level 2.

Now is the time to list charging times for each Tesla model with all charging options.

Tesla Model 3

TESLA MODEL 3

There are three different versions of the Model 3 currently on the market; the Model 3 Performance, the 3 Long Range, and the Model 3 Standard Range Plus. The Standard Range Plus has a battery range of 263 miles. The Model 3 Performance and Model 3 Long Range are both 322 miles long. The Model 3 can be charged up to 3 miles per hour using NEMA 5-15 chargers, while it can be fully charged within 8 to 12 hours using NEMA chargers 14-50 and 7 to 8 hours by wall connector. The powerful charger charges the car in 25 to 30 minutes.

Tesla Model X

TESLA MODEL X

Tesla's first SUV, the Model X, comes in two versions; the Model X Performance and the X Long Range. Performance has a release range of 341 miles (548 km), with a long-term reach of 371 miles (597 km). The X can be charged up to 3 miles per hour using NEMA 5-15 chargers, while it can be fully charged within 18 hours using NEMA chargers 14-50 and 8 to 8.5 hours by wall connector. The superchare charges the car in 25 to 30 minutes.

Tesla Model Y

TESLA MODEL Y

Tesla's new and compact SUV, the Model Y, also comes in three different versions; the standard rear-wheel drive Model Y, the long-range Y model, and the Y-model for performance. The standard Y model has a range of 244 miles (392 km). The other two Y versions have ranges of more than 300 miles (480 km), with a long range of 326 miles (524 km) and performance of 303 miles (487 km). The Y can be charged up to 3 miles per hour using NEMA 5-15 chargers, while it can be fully charged within 11 to 12 hours using NEMA chargers 14-50 and 7 to 8 hours by wall connector. The supercharger charges the car in 25 minutes.

Tesla Model S

TESLA MODEL S

Tesla's S model offers the longest range of any Tesla, which also comes in three different versions; the S Performance, the S Long Range, and the S Plaid model.

Each Version of the S is more than 300 miles (480 km), with the S Performance reaching 387 miles of range (622 km) and the S long-range model at 402 miles of range. The Tri-Motor All Wheel Drive Plaid S has a range of more than 520 miles (646 km). But to reach this range, drivers must pay attention to their speedometers, as the car should not exceed 70 miles per hour (112 km/h) and use low-resistance tire air wheels. The S can be charged up to 3 miles per hour using NEMA 5-15 chargers, while it can be fully charged within 17 to 18 hours using NEMA chargers 14-50 and 9 hours by wall connector. The supercharger charges the car in 30 minutes.
